As senator, he has been an effective, conscientious and courageous leader who not only cares about people, but has the courage to FIGHT for them. He is currently fighting to put people to work and to raise the minimum wage for Maryland workers, which statistics show could help pump one-billion dollars back into the state's economy. He has sought funding to investigate the Washington region's escalating cancer epidemic to determine what role the region's water, air and soil have played in contributing to rising cancer rates, and whether pollution from factories and plants are contributing factors. Muse co-sponsored legislation that for the first time put tax dollars directly back into the pockets of county homeowners in the form of a tax rebate. He has sponsored legislation to give tax breaks to seniors and to lower taxes for veterans. He has supported legislation to help those with physical and mental disabilities. He has also been tough on crime, supporting legislation to get illegal guns off the streets, to provide funding to improve public safety, and to toughen penalties against child predators.

Anthony went on to earn three degrees, a bachelors from Morgan State University, a masters from Wesley Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Howard University.

Muse is currently serving his second term as a senator representing Maryland's 26th Legislative District. He is a member of the Senate Finance Committee, Joint Committee on Healthcare Delivery and Finance, Human Services & Welfare Committee, the Maryland Medicaid Advisory Committee and he chairs the Fair Practices and State Personnel Oversight Committee. He serves as co-chair of Prince George's County's senate delegation. He is a former member of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.

At the age of 19, Anthony himself became a young pastor who helped to strengthen the spirits of his congregation while advocating for the issues that impacted the quality of their daily lives. Today, C. Anthony Muse is senior pastor of one of Prince George's County's most prominent churches; and he's never stopped working to improve the quality of life for the citizens of his community. For 20 years he has actively served them through civic and political involvement.
Muse is a former member of the House of Delegates where he served on the powerful Ways and Means Committee. In the House, he fought for better public education, better teacher pay, smaller classrooms, and a more effective system for evaluating student success. He worked side-by-side with labor unions for fair wages and labor practices.
